The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is a science and engineering research and education institution based in Pasadena, California. Its mission is to address fundamental problems in science and technology in a collaborative and interdisciplinary atmosphere. Among its operations, Caltech runs the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) which focuses on robotic exploration of the solar system.
