Molten Salt Solutions is developing High Speed Counter Current Chromatography (HSCCC), an approach to using counter-rotating bobbins to rapidly mix and separate aqueous and organic solvent solutions of lithium for the purpose of lithium isotope separation. Because the aqueous and organic solvents have different affinities for the Lithium-6 isotope, many mix/separation cycles lead to increasing levels of isotope separation. The goal of this approach is to provide an economic source of Lithium-6 to the fusion industry.
